Me-Learning Updates

We are learning to use our student blogs to reflect on our learning.  We are calling them Me-Learning Updates!  We write about something that happened at school in the last week or so and write about our learning and what we want to work on in the following week.  This is an idea from another great class blog in Russel Street Primary School called The Ins and Outs.  We have not all completed our posts but please come and check out our student blogs.  We would really appreciate comments!

Building Bird Houses

The last two days have been technology days for us.  The class spent the last two days with our very brilliant technology teacher, Mr Rankin, and learned to use different tools to build bird houses.  Talk about learning in full action!  We all had a lot of fun and produced very sturdy (some may be questionable) bird houses that we all got to take home.

Sonshine Ranch

This past Wednesday, our class and Room 27 went to Sonshine Ranch.  It was a great time of fun, excitement and challenging ourselves to go out of our comfort zones.  Everyone of us did something that we are very proud of.  Out teacher was most proud of how encouraging we were with each other when one of us got scared to do something.  The activities ranged from horse riding to water confidence course to flying fox and rope swing.  It really was a fabulous day with a never-ending smile on all of our faces.

Class Treaty

On the first two days of school, we talked about what kind of class we wanted.  We had many discussions in small groups and as a whole class.  Many of us wanted a class where we felt safe to be ourselves and also where everyone was kind to each other.  Then we thought of specific things we could do as a class to make our dream class a reality.  Our teacher said to be specific when we thought about the practical things we could do.  Here is our final treaty.  We signed the treaty to say that we agree to everything it says and that we promise to do what it says all year.

Class Mascot

Here is Cooper the Dog, our class mascot, that we have chosen to represent us for the year.  Usually mascots represent a sports team and we have noticed that the mascots express some of the special characteristics of the sports teams.  So, we brainstormed all the characteristics that describe us as a class then chose an animal that best represented those traits.  We also voted for the best name for the mascot and named it Cooper.  We thought Cooper was perfect because it is the beginning of the word, 'Cooperative,' which is one of the words that we thought best described us.

Cooper sits on top of our whiteboard and participates in all our class activities...silently.  :)

Welcome!

Welcome to a brand new school year!
We have had a wonderful first week of school with lots of fantastic attitudes.  We are so excited about being in the senior school and all the fabulous learning that will happen in our class.  We will be sharing all of our excitements on our blog so please check back with us regularly to experience this year's learning journey with us.
